    ABOUT SIRMIONE

    Sirmione is a small jewel suspended in the middle of the lower lake Garda and the town is bordered to the southeast by Peschiera del Garda and to the southwest with Desenzano del Garda. A section of the lake is bordered to the east by Lazise and Castelnuovo del Garda and to the north by Padenghe sul Garda.The old town is at the northern end and consists of a long, narrow peninsula, about four kilometers long that divides the shore into two parts. A Southern Lakeside resort, also exists as an island, since it was isolated from the mainland by a navigable moat, which is passed through a single access road, a bridge. The area is charming and enchanting as it still retains much of its medieval urban layout, with narrow irregular winding streets. Since the 70s there have been architectural works to the external walls of buildings, which have returned their most ancient appearance, displaying a lot of bricks and stones. Due to its historic nature, the area is very limited in terms of traffic and you could say that it is a paradise for pedestrians.
